Aegean Cuff Bracelet Tutorial

In this step-by-step tutorial, loaded with detailed photos and instructions you’ll re-create this cuff style bracelet which is reminiscent of an Ionic column from ancient Greece. After crafting your bracelet you’ll have three patina options, including the vivid turquoise patina that mirrors the intense blue hues of the Aegean.

There are 14 pages in this tutorial, 34 steps total and dozens of clear photographs. Also included are the #39;recipes#39; for three different patinas.

WHILE NOT DIFFICULT, THIS TUTORIAL IS FOR WIRE ARTISANS WITH AT LEAST INTERMEDIATE WIRE WORKING SKILLS. IT ASSUMES YOU HAVE BASIC WIRE SKILLS SUCH AS SPIRALING ETC.

Materials:

This bracelet may be made from your choice of round dead-soft Sterling silver, copper, brass or bronze wire, or a combination of these metals.

• Approximately 9 feet of 14 gauge wire (exact length provided in tutorial based on your actual wrist size)
• 19 inches 16 gauge wire
• 18 inches 20 gauge wire

For your fumed (blue) patina you will need:

• Ordinary table salt
• Ammonia
• 2 Plastic containers. One must fit easily inside the other, and will be used as a platform to rest the cuff atop during the fuming process, so choose your containers with this in mind. The larger container must have a tight sealing lid.
• Plastic mesh such as needlepoint mesh from a craft store - the mesh needs to be slightly larger than the opening of your smaller container.

Alternatively, Rubbermaid® makes a plastic shoebox with an inside lip, which is perfect for suspending a length of wooden dowel above the ammonia. The cuff will hang from the dowel. This option eliminates the need for the smaller bowl and plastic mesh.

Tools
• Round nose pliers
• Chain nose pliers
• Wide nose pliers
• Flush cutters
• Steel bench block
• Ball pein hammer
• 1-1/4 inch or larger nylon hammer or rawhide mallet
• Bracelet mandrel oval or round - steel or wood (a rolling pin or baseball bat may be substituted for the mandrel)

NOTE:
I email the tutorials and check my email a few times a day. They are usually sent within
hours of purchase unless it#39;s bedtime here and I#39;m sleeping :)...or I may be teaching all day, in which case I#39;ll send it that same evening. If you do not receive it, there#39;s most likely a problem with your server rejecting it as spam. Please convo or email me if you don#39;t have your tutorial within 24 hours and we#39;ll try a different email. THANKS!!
