On Wholesale On offer is a stunning unique work of art by Bertil Vallien at the Åfors glassworks of Sweden.To avoid making this an essay, I won#39;t try and explain who Bertil Vallien is and how he#39;s single-handedly redefined the glass industry in Sweden - if you need more background on him there are literally dozens of great books on the matter and obviously there#39;s a wealth of information on the internet about him, his work and his vision.So for the purpose of this listing I will recognize that you are already aware of his legacy and craftsmanship, and that you have found yourself wanting a magnificent piece by the hands of the master himself. That, is what I am offering here, a unique piece of glass art designed and executed by Bertil in his workshop.What is important to note is that this bowl was created at the Åfors factory, where Bertil has his own hot shop up until today. This wasn#39;t created at the Kosta or Boda factories (and as such isn#39;t labeled Kosta Boda) but was actually fashioned at his own personal studio, and before his unique works were all marked Kosta Boda.Bertil has always preferred to work mostly from the Åfors location, far away from the production lines at Kosta producing the commercial products that would surface under the Kosta Boda label. This piece bears only Bertil#39;s personal signature, the word #39;UNIK#39; (unique) and the Icarus symbol.The design features #39;typical#39; Bertil touches that we recognize in his work unilaterally; a mixtures of white and opalescent iridescent tones as well as a gradient shift in texture. Decorated with a blue soft edged shape (lovingly described as a blue #39;modern Marvin the Paranoid Android#39; in my household) this bounces and catches the light beautifully.Measuring 13cms (around 5.3quot;) in height and standing 13cms (5.3quot;) in width, it measures 9cms (just under 4quot;) in depth. The weight is roughly 820 grams and it is in absolutely stunning condition.A beautiful addition to any collection, and especially for Bertil Vallien aficionados.
