I wondered if it is actually possible to live on just 10% of the average amount of resources and still participate in society? We – two adults and one child – set out to discover if it was possible. After eight months of making changes to our lifestyle, we were living on 10% of the average amount of electricity, transportation fuel, and gas, generating 4% of the average amount of rubbish, using 0% of Melbourne’s water supply, eating 80% local sustainably produced food, and spending 10% of what the average household spends on consumer goods.This zine is the true story of a week in the life of my family at that time, and shows how we actually made the changes to live like this.This is an A5 size 12 page black and white zine made from 3 sheets of A4 paper stapled together.The riot for austerity is a project started by Sharyn Astyk of Causabon#39;s Book, in which the aim is to reduce our use of resources to 10% of the average.
